Baby got back, and Joe Nichols got a viral hit!
The country star’s traditional take on Sir Mix-a-Lot’s “Baby Got Back” has caught attention of BuzzFeed, Rolling Stone, TMZ and more, and its video has garnered nearly 5 million views on Facebook and YouTube in just under seven days.
Filmed in Sir Mix-a-Lot’s hometown of Seattle, the viral video features the first appearance by the rap legend in a remake video for his song.
“It was incredible,” Joe recalls in an exclusive interview with CMT’s Cody Alan. “He was so nice and super animated. He cussed a lot. He kind of made me feel at home. He was super nice and great about it. Anything they wanted him to do he was in for.”
In the video, Sir Mix-a-Lot severs as a judge for artists delivering odd covers of the song. When Joe walks in and performs his countrified version, Sir Mix-a-Lot is sold!
Joe’s version of “Baby Got Back” is featured on his new album Never Gets Old—available now.
